Daord has long been considered one of boxing’s best kept secrets, but he exploded onto the domestic scene in 2025 when he captured the British super-flyweight title with a hard-fought points win over Matt McHale in Scotland. That win was a platform for Daord to push on and compete for bigger prizes, and he started 2026 in an impressive manner when he won the WBC International flyweight belt with victory against Keyvin Lara. A quality amateur, Daord’s professional career has taken some time to get going and he has only fought 12 times since making his debut in 2016. Now 29, Daord is making up for lost time and with Stephen Vaughan now pushing his career, the Birkenhead fighter, now based in Liverpool, is looking to make fast progress. Phiri arrives in Britain protecting an unbeaten record and there’s many close to the African fighter who believe he is capable of reaching the very top of the sport. The winner can take another step closer to the grandest fights available, but who will emerge victorious when the first bell finally sounds in September. A full undercard of local fighters is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
